Chainsaw (Graphic Novel)
It started with my professor calling me a cynic; how did I feel about that you ask? Well, frankly I had no idea how to take it but you bet I was about to make the next five months, my graduation project, all about that one observation.
The beginning of the end
It was supposed to be a game. But apparently every other person on the planet decided that cynicism was the perfect basis upon which to build a game.
So, with months of work being scrapped and a design review in a week, what did I have to show for it?
A sketch of Chainsaw, the crow; the personification of my cynicism and the one who was about to help narrate the rollercoaster ride that the previous three months and last one would be.
The middle
As I shared the journey of 'failing' to achieve what I originally set out to create, I realized that sometimes, although scary, failure is pretty freaking great. At the very least, you learn something. This book allowed me to explore and share what it truly means to be a cynic—how it applies to the current zeitgeist, what it means to me, and how people can use the values of cynicism to improve their lives.
The end is definitely not near
Now I'm not just saying this because the idea of everything ending would send me into a month long anxiety spiral, cause it 100% would. But because as I continue to make tweaks to the book and grow as a person so will Chainsaw.
And always remember, every time you doubt yourself, you lose a cynic point.
